The dry alarm valve is a one-way valve with its outlet side pressurized with compressed gas; when the air pressure drops below a specific value, it automatically allows water to flow into the sprinkler system and triggers an alarm. It is suitable for environments where the temperature falls below 4\u00b0C or exceeds 70\u00b0C. The system comprises closed sprinklers, a piping network, air pressurization equipment, a dry alarm valve, an alarm device, and a water supply facility.<\/p>\n

Operating Principle<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1.When the dry alarm valve is in the standby state, the upper chamber of the valve body is filled with pressurized gas and the lower chamber with water; the pressure difference between the gas in the upper chamber and the water in the lower chamber keeps the valve clapper in the closed position.
\n2.In the event of a fire, or when the end-of-line water testing device or valve is opened during system testing, the air pressure within the piping drops (due to the rupture of closed-type sprinklers or air venting through the test connection). Consequently, the gas pressure in the upper chamber is no longer sufficient to hold the clapper closed; the water pressure in the lower chamber forces the clapper open, thereby activating the alarm valve.
\n3.Water from the lower chamber flows through the alarm piping to the water motor alarm and the pressure switch. The water motor alarm emits an audible signal, while the pressure switch sends an electrical signal to start the fire water pump; simultaneously, the system’s rapid exhaust valve opens to quickly vent the air from the piping.<\/p>\n

Installation and Commissioning Instructions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1.The dry alarm valve must be installed vertically on the system piping network, leaving a clearance of approximately 0.5m around it to facilitate installation and maintenance.
\n2.Before installation, the water supply piping network must be thoroughly flushed to ensure it is free of debris and foreign matter, and that the water quality is clean.
\n3.To facilitate maintenance and commissioning, fire-rated signal butterfly valves should be installed at the inlet and outlet of the dry alarm valve.
\n4.Inspect the valve chamber for foreign matter or residue; if any is found, clean it out and wash the valve chamber, valve clack, and both inner and outer valve seats with water.
\n5.Install the dry alarm valve correctly onto the piping network according to the installation diagram, and sequentially install the hydraulic alarm bell, pressure switch, and air-filling piping.
\n6.Connect the air source and verify that all components are installed correctly and completely.
\n7.After confirming the system is correctly installed, push the reset handle into the valve to ensure the valve clack is in the closed position.
\n8.Open the priming water ball valve and pour water into the priming funnel until it is full (a small amount of water may drip from the drip valve during filling); open the test ball valve to drain excess water, then close both the priming water ball valve and the test ball valve.
\n9.Pull up the knob on top of the pressure regulating valve and turn it counter-clockwise to loosen it.
\n10.Start the air compressor and adjust its output air pressure (the output pressure must be 0.1\u20130.2 MPa higher than the system air pressure).
\n11.Slowly turn the knob on top of the pressure regulating valve clockwise to adjust the air pressure to the minimum value corresponding to the water supply pressure shown in the table; once adjustment is complete, press the knob down to lock it in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

12.Sequentially open the outlet signal butterfly valve, the air inlet ball valve, and the rapid inflation valve. When the pressure reading on the air pressure maintenance unit approaches the minimum air pressure value for the system side (as specified in the table), close the rapid inflation valve.
\n13.After confirming there are no abnormalities on the system side, slowly open the inlet signal butterfly valve to introduce water at the rated pressure. Observe the drip valve for any outflow of pressurized water; if only a small amount flows out and then stops after a short period, the commissioning is complete and the system enters standby mode. If water flows out continuously for an extended period without showing signs of stopping,stop the water supply, drain the water and vent the air, then open the valve cover to inspect the valve disc and water valve seat (inner seat) for foreign matter; clean the components and repeat the commissioning process.<\/p>\n

Operating Instructions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1.Alarm Test: Open the alarm bell test valve; the water motor alarm and pressure switch should activate and trigger an alarm.
\n2.Pipeline Water Supply Test: Open the drain valve; a steady, high-volume flow of pressurized water should discharge, indicating that the pipeline water supply is unobstructed and functioning correctly. Otherwise, inspect the piping system to clear any blockages and ensure an unobstructed water supply.
\n3.Switch Function Test: Close the outlet signal butterfly valve and slowly open the test ball valve to vent air. When the pressure drops to a specific level, the clapper of the dry alarm valve should open, and the water motor alarm and pressure switch should activate and trigger an alarm. After the test, drain any residual water from the valve and follow the commissioning procedure to restore the system to its standby state.<\/p>\n

Precautions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

1.The dry-pipe alarm valve and its accessories should be inspected at least once a year to ensure safe and reliable operation.
\n2.Close the inlet signal butterfly valve to stop the water supply; after venting air and draining water, remove the cover bolts, then take off the valve cover and gasket.
\n3.Inspect the rubber gasket on the valve clapper for deformation or damage; if any is found, remove the pivot pin and clapper assembly in sequence, clean the valve chamber and the inner and outer valve seats, and replace the rubber gasket on the clapper.
